The Greater St. Louis and First Illinois Chapters of HFMA, in association with the Heart of America and North Dakota chapters, are proud to announce four 90 minute webinars to assist HFMA members interested in pursuing the Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) credential to prepare for the second CHFP exam (Operational Excellence) for which HFMA does not offer an online self-study course. The webinars supplement HFMA’s Business of Health Care (BoH) online program, the suggested pathway for preparing for the first CHFP exam.
Webinar 1: The Business of Health Care
This webinar provides a brief overview of the content of HFMA’s 12- to 14-hour Business of Health Care online self-study program and the associated 90-minute exam by covering selected topics from each of the six component courses. Participants are introduced to the structure and content of the BoH program via screen shots and knowledge check questions from among the program’s more than 1,100 screens. Since each of the Operational Excellence exam’s case studies includes at least one factual question similar to those on the first exam, this webinar also serves as a content review for candidates who have already passed the first exam and are currently preparing for the second.
Webinar 2: Provider case studies
This webinar introduces participants to the strategic decisions senior hospital and health system executives make in today’s competitive, value-oriented healthcare marketplace. The first case study describes an acute care hospital’s cost reduction journey; the second places participants into the C-suites of two large health systems exploring a merger.
Webinar 3: Health plan case studies
This webinar looks at healthcare through a payer lens. The first case study portrays a health system contemplating various scenarios for partnering with a health plan; the second walks participants through the strategic decision-making process of starting a provider-sponsored health plan.
Webinar 4: Physician case studies
The first of this webinar’s two physician case studies describes a multi-specialty clinic’s journey from joining a Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) and forming a Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) to starting a physician-led Accountable Care Organization (ACO). The second case study takes a group a physicians through the decision-making process of remaining independent or becoming employees of a health system. Like the other two case study webinars, this webinar includes suggested readings and tips for preparing for the Operational Excellence exam.
